Hello JH and HS families - this is a reminder that there will be no early release on Wednesday, 3/27 for grades 7-12 due to elementary conferences.
A Mount Baker School bus carrying Harmony Elementary students was involved in a minor traffic accident this morning near the intersection of Deming Road and Mount Baker Highway.
There were 19 students on board, and per standard practice, all were evaluated by local EMS staff. Once all students were checked out, they were loaded on to a different bus to be delivered to Harmony.
While there was no significant damage to the bus, it will be taken out of service until it passes a thorough safety inspection.
Families of the students who were aboard the bus can expect direct communication from Harmony Elementary.
Puget Sound Energy has reported to the District they do not anticipate the highway reopening before 4:00 PM this afternoon.
The transportation department is working diligently to ensure students will get home as quickly as possible after dismissal. However, there will understandably be delays because of the detour through the South Pass Road.
At all of our schools, students will be held indoors until their bus arrives for the trip home so as to not prolong exposure to cold temperatures.
Hello Mount Baker - all schools will be on a two-hour delay for today, January 12th, due to power outages. We will send out updates as needed. Thank you.
