Mount Baker School District: Important Message

Hello Mount Baker,

The Mount Baker School District is committed to upholding the rights and protections of all students, including those from immigrant backgrounds or who are immigrants themselves. Every child has the right to access a free, high-quality education in a safe and welcoming environment.

Under the U.S. Supreme Court decision Plyler v. Doe (457 U.S. 202, 1982), all children residing in the United States - regardless of their immigration or citizenship status - have the right to attend public schools. This means schools cannot deny admission or treat students differently based on their status. At Mount Baker, we respect the privacy of all students and families. We do not collect or share information about immigration status with federal authorities, nor do we discriminate based on race, color, national origin, citizenship, or immigration status.

We are also committed to ensuring that every family has access to the resources they need. All students have the right to services such as special education, meal programs, and language support. To support effective communication, we provide translated materials and interpretation services so that all families can fully participate in their childā€™s education.

If you have questions, concerns, or need assistance, please donā€™t hesitate to contact us. Our staff is here to support you and your children in every way possible. Thank you for being a valued part of our school community.
