RE: Mount Baker Leadership Transition Update
Dear Mount Baker Community and Staff,
We are writing to update you on progress with our district leadership transition.
Interim Superintendent. Mr. Phil Brockman is currently serving as interim superintendent. His position ends on June 30th, 2024. The school board is very grateful to have Mr. Brockman’s experience and guidance as interim superintendent, but we recognize that as a retired superintendent his time here would be short. Mr. Brockman is willing to help with the transition by serving as a mentor/coach to the next interim superintendent. The school board is considering options for filling the interim superintendent role after June 30th, until we hire a permanent superintendent in 2025. The board will decide between hiring an external candidate for interim superintendent, or moving our current Director of Operations and HR, Mr. Nick Perigo, to the interim superintendent position. We will plan for extensive staff and community involvement in the permanent superintendent search next school year.
Community and Staff Input. The school board would like to hear from the community and staff before we decide on the interim superintendent position. In January, the board began soliciting input on the 2024-25 interim superintendent position. We will continue to solicit input by email before May 9th, or in person at the May 9th school board meeting.
